Pros

There’s a focus on making the office an entertaining place to work. The basic ethos seems to be that while you’re expected to work hard, it doesn't mean you can’t enjoy the day. There’s lots of organised events, including monthly drinks, trips to the cinema and comedy clubs, quizzes, scavenger hunts round the city, mini golf, for example. And on days where there’s no company events, employees play on the office PlayStation or head to the pub anyway. It’s also quite a supportive environment. There’s opportunity for development and training - in the last few years I've been on a video production course, a presentations course, and am, at the time of writing, undertaking new manager training.

Cons

The office environment can be distracting for jobs that require long periods of concentration (eg writing), with loud music constantly playing. My advice if you struggle with sound - invest in decent headphones. It's also fair to say the company went through some growing pains as it transitioned into a larger business. This led to some inefficient processes, more bureaucracy, indecision in certain parts of the company and a significant drop in morale. Ultimately, the structure of the company had to be retooled and although it’s now a considerably better place to work (hence the high mark), it was difficult to go through.
