Pros

Most of the people are great to work with, but the executive and mid-level management are pathetic. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the nicest people and great down to earth good souls, I am forever thankful for this. I worked for one of the nicest directors but it's the people above them that are tainted, along with some of the middle management. They don't know how to lead or manage, which is where the problems lie. They get yelled out or disciplined and it's like a mud hill, it just slides down the hill to the people below them. They are very diverse and really do accept people from all walks of life which is fantastic. One of the most diverse workplaces I have ever worked for and they accept all people. Great, keep it up!! The pay and benefits are above average, and they do pay well. They also care about their employees getting paid on time and the benefits are decent. You won't find a lot of places that pay as well starting off. Honest truth, this economy sucks, so this job pays decently based on experience.. However, their HR people work in other countries, of them and there is a huge disconnect. It takes them forever to figure out small things. We need to stop letting jobs go overseas that deal with things that only Americans understand, no pun intended. But all the tech support and other jobs are outsourced for DeVry and there is huge language and culture barriers that affect the students experience.

Cons

Most of the people are great to work with, but the mid-level and executive management are pathetic. They try all these things and most of the SSAs hate doing their job because of how much they micromanage on every level. For one, there is so much stuff to learn, it honestly takes like a year to get decent at the job because they have a system for everything, tying your shoe practically. It takes a whole to learn these if you have no background. Second, it's really like debt collection only on the education side, you are begging people to post and do their homework so the school can keep getting their TITLE IV money because they know it's like military money, it's money they get on time on the second week of the month that new classes start. It's for profit, so they want their students to persist. Nothing wrong with this, but people's commitment and desire to do good, should be their own decisions. Calling and emailing students 3-4 times a day to post is borderline harassment. I used to get cussed out when I had to call people and they knew what we were calling about, but I had to do it cause they were on the call list. Every day you have to make outreach to people when they struggling or they simply don't care about their classes. Even if they post once, they gonna get a prorated charge, whether they want to do well or not. Also, their idea of getting promoted is you do more tasks to get moved up. If your manager likes you or you have their blessing, they will maybe ok/approve the paperwork for you to transfer or move departments. However; if they don't want you to leave, you are held like a slave in chains tackled to a job you don't like. It's crazy that some of the people have been there for 20-plus years at the same job. The job does take a mental toll on you after a while because you're always dealing with people's issues and it's one of the most thankless jobs!! Hopefully, Glassdoor keeps this review and doesn't let DeVry take it down, it's honest to God's truth!! It could be a great school but they need to think outside the box and do things a lot differently. Their CEO is very tech savvy but I think they should put him on that show Undercover Boss, so he can see what really goes on cause he bored me with all of the meetings and has no freaking clue of what the regular workers have to deal with, day in and day out.!!

Pros

Work from home, good benefits, paid time off & the pay.

Cons

They say it’s not a KPI based position but it is. They will not give commission because they say we should be in it for the students and not numbers but the position is solely based on numbers. This is not a warm, team friendly position. Even your team mates are in competition with you. You will work two Saturdays out of the month and sometimes even Sundays and they still won’t be satisfied with your work ethic.
