Pros
Flexible hours, nice coworkers who are knowledgeable in art. relaxing environment and growth and friendship is encouraged.
Cons
Head office doesn't care about it's bottom line. Devices aren't updated, store aren't updated. Employees are more like specialists but paid like retail associates. This job requires you to know a lot about art, chemicals, interactions between different mediums and much more and the amount of technical knowledge you need I think should be compensated more. Framing only pays you $30 more/month working full time. It is a high stress department where you need to communicate with customers who can be very particular, communicate with vendors and hold them accountable when they make mistakes but still maintain relationships. The service fee goes directly to head office. You are essentially a retail worker with even more work even though you need to know a lot about building frames. Cutting mats, glass, proper cleaning and making a frame an archival environment for customers most precious items. But you're paid peanuts.
