Pros

Benefits similar to others in SaaS. Fully remote.

Cons

Very inexperienced leadership. Very obvious this is their first time trying to lead a SaaS company. Haven't truly innovated the product in years. Lack of product vision or no how to execute. Changing the product positioning every month or two with no clear direction. Two large layoffs have occurred in the last 8 months. Leadership is not trustworthy and doesn't trust their team or have employees backs. They fire people regularly. Fear-based culture. It's very obvious when they want someone out of their organization. They treat them terribly trying to push them out. I would not recommend working here.

Pros

I've been with Datapeople for just about three years and it's been so rewarding to see how the company has grown and changed (for the better) over time. We've always balanced investing heavily in growth and being fiscally-responsible, and it's really paid dividends during these turbulent economic times. We haven't had cash problems or layoffs since the market crashed and are still growing robustly, which feels rare when looking around the startup ecosystem. We've also been able to hire some stellar VPs across the organization in the past 6 to 8 months, who have really helped accelerate our data-driven GTM approach and product direction. It's been reassuring to see our senior leadership gain an even stronger sense of clarity when it comes to product and GTM direction, especially in the midst of the market's ups and downs. I haven't been more confident in the Datapeople vision and our ability to execute since joining the team back in 2020. Culturally, I haven't been at a company where I've felt more respected and trusted than here at Datapeople. As cliché as it sounds, the people here make the company and it's ultimately why I continue to (virtually) show up to work everyday. Relatedly, I've had some serious life twists and turns since joining that have required me taking extended time off and needing flexible work schedules. I've been very grateful that my needs have not only been accommodated, but also deeply cared for in a way that I didn't expect. For this reason (and the many others listed above), I continually find myself very grateful to work here at Datapeople.

Cons

We're a fully-remote company, which has it's pluses and minuses based on each individual's personal situation. Being an extrovert, I sometimes miss being in a bustling office, but tradeoffs, ya know? We also have our own unique growing pains as every startup does. (That's part of the nature of this whole startup thing.) I believe that this fact-of-life is only a "con" if you're expecting everything to be perfectly figured out upon your arrival. After all, we hire new teammates not because we have everything figured out, but because we need new perspectives to actually help us figure it out.
