Pros

- Oli and ALQ are great founders and have a knack for being in the right place at the right time with the right product (the majority of the time) - DD is a product people want and are (generally) willing to pay for - Good WLB with the right teams - The office is a pleasant enough place to spend time (but I don't think the in-office policy is worthwhile). - The *vast* majority of the people who work here are good people. - I appreciate that Datadog never shelved equality initiatives because it's the right thing to do.

Cons

- The number of products has grown beyond our ability to cohesively unify them. At some point, our satchel was stuffed too full and the seams are showing - Some of the products have been a flop thus far (Security, Product Analytics) and we're on some savior complex to force customers to adopt them anyways - Our pricing is byzantine(!). We claim it's simple but it's not. 90% of the questions I get are about how things are priced or billed and nobody who should know does. - We index heavily on certain benefits and completely skimp on others (401k contributions?! Nah. Can I interest you in an NYC rooftop?) - Generalists will drown in such a loaded product portfolio - Generally lower tier compensation

Pros

Datadog has a strong product, smart coworkers, and a fast paced environment that teaches you a lot quickly. I learned a tremendous amount about observability, technical discovery, outbound prospecting, and how modern engineering organizations operate. The company has also gives reps exposure to large accounts and technical conversations early in their careers.

Cons

The ramp for newer AEs can feel steep, especially in a hgihly competitive outbound environment. Success often depends on timing, territory, pipeline momentum, and consistent coaching. There can also be a significant pressure tied to activity metrics and pipeline generations, which may be difficult for reps still developing confidence and process consistency.
