Pros

Product is best in the cloud monitoring space, engineering team is awesome to work with, stocked kitchen and lunch 3 days a week is nice. decent benefits (health insurance, fitness/home office reimbursement, etc), generous ramp bonuses that are not too difficult to hit

Cons

This is truly the worst company I have ever worked for when it comes to culture. Listen to all of the other reviews that claim that Datadog is a frat house. All of the leaders are narcissistic men in their late 20's or early 30's, most of which have never had managing experience and were just successful AE's that got promoted to management, which explains why no one here knows how to manage or coach. When you're doing well, management will say "keep doing what you're doing" and when you're doing poorly, they will hound you to generate PG without actually coaching or training you to do better, rather just threaten you with what will happen if you don't generate x number of dollars or opportunities (in a recession, no less, with numbers that absolutely no one is hitting). Our quota is ridiculously high and less than 10% of reps here are hitting that number, so be prepared to be paid your base salary for most of the time you are here, aside from the ramp bonuses you receive for hitting your numbers in the first 9 months as a rep. All the reps that came from Boston are handed the best accounts, while the rest of the reps are given churned accounts or accounts that have been worked by 3-4 other reps. Extremely aggressive sales tactics are encouraged which have resulted in Datadog sales having a bad reputation in the tech space. If someone tells you no, you are still encouraged to blow up their phone and email. You are told you will have 100 accounts, in reality you will have 70. Leadership is completely clueless and have no desire to actually manage or help their reps. They are great in moving deals along as they used to be successful sales reps, however they will not make you better as a salesperson. This is said by every rep at Datadog. In the last month, 10 people have either gotten fired or left on their own, including top performers who couldn't handle working in this environment anymore. VP is a pompous self centered individual who even aggressively hounded several AE's in the elevator after we had a bad Q1 and took out his anger on them. This is the most toxic company I have ever worked for, the culture is trash and happy hours, free food, "perks" etc will not fix this. You will be underpaid and overworked. Everyone is expected to stay late, come early and work deals even on PTO which you will feel guilty for even asking to take. It's a shame because the product is really great, but sales really has no idea what they're doing. No wonder the average tenure of a Datadog AE is around 1 year. Stay far away.

Pros

Stock options and gym reimbursement

Cons

Datadog is a very toxic place especially if you’re in a non-tech role where you are deprioritized and uncared for. Talent acquisition has terrible, selfish leaders who only care about themselves and pushing their teams past their limits. Your colleagues will backstab you again and again to gain preferential treatment. The leaders encourage this type of behavior and get excited and make jokes about it. Additionally,I It is an environment riddled with sexism and racism — is it not 2026? NYC at that? The lack of resources and support compared to engineering is astounding. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Many of the good reviews are fake or are by people who perpetuate the toxic culture. The only good thing is the stock options. Stay far away from this place!
