Pros

Ability to work on a multi-cultural, international team. My team spans NYC, Boston, Denver, Dublin, London, Paris, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney (and growing) The industry-leading product that is continuing to expand and grow into new areas Strong leadership team Happy/friendly teammates Great benefits offerings Strong equity packages Team bonding events for all different personality types (not just happy hours) Access to mentorship from senior members of the engineering team Ability to work on large scale, challenging projects Opportunities to learn, and to mentor more junior team members Internal mobility opportunities

Cons

Not particularly well-defined career paths for newer / smaller teams. It seems like this is being addressed, and has been established across Engineering, Sales, and Technical Solutions, however. Reluctance around hiring 100% remote roles outside of Enterprise Sales, Engineering, Community, and Evangelism. Though we're all remote in COVID this may change in the future. Open floor plans. If you're someone who cannot concentrate or work well in an open floor plan, you might find working in the offices to be challenging.

Pros

Datadog has a strong product, smart coworkers, and a fast paced environment that teaches you a lot quickly. I learned a tremendous amount about observability, technical discovery, outbound prospecting, and how modern engineering organizations operate. The company has also gives reps exposure to large accounts and technical conversations early in their careers.

Cons

The ramp for newer AEs can feel steep, especially in a hgihly competitive outbound environment. Success often depends on timing, territory, pipeline momentum, and consistent coaching. There can also be a significant pressure tied to activity metrics and pipeline generations, which may be difficult for reps still developing confidence and process consistency.
