Pros

Mentoring in the field used instead of formal training, I find that much more rewarding. The Healthcare benefits are good, the management listens to problems and makes changes when needed and the consultants and analysts are top notch. I see a lot of whining and complaining from ex-employees on glassdoor about DataShield and know who most of them are. They all seem to work here less than a year. Out of the 6 whiners, 5 were fired. They make a good company sound like a terrible place to work. I am not saying the company is perfect, it has its flaws, but it really sounds like sour grapes. DataShield is a good place to work.

Cons

My major con is the work/life balance. Overtime is expected by management, but if you stay for more than 1 year (unlike the whiners), it is rewarded. Bonuses are paid and reviews are done, but again you would need to be here more than a year to get a review. Also, the 401K program would be a good addition to benefits. It has been discussed but not implemented.

Pros

Datashield is a small company with some big talent. I was with the company for little less than one year, but in that time I learned a great deal. That was largely due to the knowledge of my co-workers and the fact that it was a small company, so you had to learn to do more with less. Don't take the "less" comment as any kind of disparaging remark. As I said, they are a small (start-up) company and their infrastructure is still maturing. There is a great deal of passion for the company and for security as a whole at DataShield and it is my belief that this is what drives them and will make them succeed. Pros: - Core group of very talented professionals. - People in management positions that have worked in and understand IT/Security. - Openness of upper management to meet with any level of staff. - Since it is a start-up, you can have the capacity to affect change, if you are willing to step up and take it. - Free snacks and coffee.

Cons

- The infrastructure still needs to mature. - Work load can be overwhelming at times (but mostly only for those that care). - Very long commute depending upon where you are in the valley.
