Pros

Best in class AML technology, a result of countless intellectual and financial investment from all who work/worked on it. Free catered food in most offices if that's the kind of perk that gets you interested. AI/ML is a hot space and DataRobot will help you build the right credentials.

Cons

Not to repeat the many other reviews on their recent unfortunate mass layoff, this post will focus on sharing other experiences that will help you make a more informed decision. This is a classic startup hyper growth gone wrong. A real waste of world changing technology with incompetent leadership and immature business execution. As with any emerging technology competition should be expected and they really rushed with a number of acquisitions that looked great on paper but wasn't able to produce the results they have hoped. These "strategic" investments and other CEO decisions resulted in constant pivots in product roadmaps, GTM plans and headcount/team structures. Do some LinkedIn research you will find many of their founding executives are no longer around after their full stock vest, a common scene in tech no doubt but also proof of the underlying disconnect. Jeremy Achin may be a highly capable data scientist and startup founder, perhaps also an above average VC fundraiser and public speaker, but certainly not the most ideal CEO and captain for the ship he and Tom founded. He displays arrogance, not the kind of good confidence you want in a leader, shows little compassion and understanding towards his staff, often leading with fear and talking down on people. He idolises Lee Kwan Yew, Masayoshi Son, and Elon Mask, resulting in an obsession to build an iconic brand/company. Such beliefs have resulted in him not believing in tried and true organizationl structures, GTM strategies, and common business operation tactics. You will certainly enjoy working with the many talented colleagues (many of whom may not be around anymore), but also get frustrated with other inner circle members who hold key positions. If you are fresh and can withstand gruesome long hours, to kickstart a career (like the Big4) in data science, do not mind the dysfunctional processes and structure, and can bear with constantly changing strategies and executions this is not the worst company you could join. For all others look elsewhere, there are many data science and analytics organizations that deserve your talent and heart.
