Leadership frequently gives conflicting directions, resulting in confusion, wasted effort, and constant firefighting. Decisions are highly centralized around the CEO’s personal opinions, even in areas where domain expertise is lacking. Growth and recognition depend far more on how much the leadership personally likes you than on performance or contribution.
Women employees, in particular, often do not receive equal professional respect unless you are in someone’s good books. Meritocracy is almost non-existent.
