Pros
Great for starting pay/benefits. This is ideal for someone who lacks life skills/is in a difficult position/first job and needs to make money. Management and HR is easy to work with. I haven't had any complaints with my supervisor. They understand if an emergency arises that you can go take care of things. The work is not very hard and the production goals are relatively easy to meet.
Cons
Do not apply if you believe education and experience will help you move up. If you have a college degree, which proves that you have critical thinking skills and can learn things easily, you will be beat every time by someone who has been with the company for even a year longer than you. (i.e. lets say I have a Psychology degree and several years of Chemistry lab experience, you will be passed over by someone with a high school diploma or GED who knows/is friends with someone in the quality LAB department, or has been there a year longer than you. Longevity is everything to this company. Raises do not happen often, no matter how much you learn in your section. I am certified in nearly every area in my section of work at have put in a ton of work making my production goals (as well as covering for people who quit and called out of work.. which happens almost daily) and have had zero raises in almost a year. I am due for a review soon so I cannot speak to how much the raises are. This is not a place to make a career unless you get lucky in a section where you end up being the longest person time wise and get promoted. Promotions are given to those who have stayed the longest. You will be told to apply for a position when they know you are up against people who have longevity on you and know the job specifics more than you. Sounds fair right? Well it would be if the work wasn't so easy to learn for those who are intelligent and have the work ethic and drive. If you are an engineer, maintenance, IT, sales/software engineer ... by all means apply!
