Pros

- Christmas party each year

Cons

- The building was old and tiresome. The decor was depressing and did not make you feel inspired. The walls were thin and you could hear other peoples conversations through the walls which was uncomfortable when you could hear them discussing other members of staff. I am now aware they have moved to a new location. - Massive blame culture. Instead of getting to the bottom of issues, they would instead send a torrent of abuse via email until the person had been embarrassed or made to cry. Constantly copying in managers to every email and getting other people involved rather than picking up the phone or speaking face to face to resolve a problem. - Cliques throughout the management team. If you were part of the clique or liked by the clique, you are fine. If you were not part of this clique or in fact liked by the clique, you would not get far within the company and would be eventually bullied out. - Management have a huge ego and believe they are a cut above the rest. Instead of doing what a manager should and asking their team to behave respectfully, they would behave in a much worse way and have meetings to discuss other people in the company in a derogatory way. One member of staff actually heard a sound recording of his own manager telling people how much they disliked him! - Members of staff were often sacked with no warning and left feeling embarrassed having to leave the office in the middle of the day with all their things. Rather than getting to the bottom of the problem, their answer is to get rid of you if your face no longer fits. - Several times a year the company had something called a Development Day. This day involved the entire business coming together to participate in things that would develop your skills. One time, the company used the development day to go round to other departments with your team and tell them everything you don't like about them and what they need to do to improve. This was incredibly uncomfortable and I found this quite disturbing as this was not helpful and nothing even changed after it. All it was for was to insult other people for a few hours. - No exciting perks, no bonus schemes for departments other than sales and business development. No career progression either, once you are in that role, that is it. - Salary was below average. No consistency throughout teams or departments with how people were paid. - Friends of colleagues being referred for job roles rather than hiring someone who was right for the job. This then making the cliques even worse than before.

Pros

After reading a few negative reviews, I felt compelled to share an honest perspective. In my view, many of the criticisms are either misinformed or do not accurately reflect the reality of working at Damar. Damar has a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, particularly within the office. Comments about “cliques” do not reflect my experience. Everyone who joins the company is welcomed, and there is a genuine effort from colleagues to include and engage with one another. Naturally, those who actively join conversations may interact more frequently, but no one is ignored or treated differently. Having worked here for many years, I can confidently say this is one of the most welcoming companies I have been part of. I was also surprised to read allegations of unprofessional, illegal, or discriminatory behaviour. Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated and would be addressed immediately. The workplace is inclusive and accessible, and the culture does not allow for bullying, belittling, or micromanagement. Respect and professionalism are core expectations. The work–life balance is another real strength. The majority of staff work remotely, with only a small number working in a hybrid arrangement. Standard working hours are 9–5, with no expectation of starting early or finishing late. There is a clear boundary between work and personal time, which allows for a healthy balance and flexibility. Overall, my experience at Damar has been overwhelmingly positive.

Cons

There is not many, not the best salary but not the worst either. Lack of room for progression.

Pros

Cannot think of any unfortunately

Cons

Cliquey, unprofessional, a joke of a company to work for. Don’t expect to progress unless you’re best pals with Team leaders and the Manager. The staff members that have been at the company for years believe they can say and do just as they please, even if this is at best, unprofessional, at worst, illegal and/or discriminatory. There is no work / life balance, seeing as though team leaders can contact you and demand actions from you in the evenings or whenever they please. Cringeworthy training days, with naff slides, where favoured colleagues are applauded as employee of the month (possibly the ones who have written the positive reviews on this site) If you are considering a role here, I would run a mile.
