The only way to get a raise it to threaten to quit - Pct DaVita Employee Review

Pros

Direct patient contact for medical/nursing/PA school

Cons

Where to start. At least 6 techs have left my facility in the past 6 months. Retention throughout Denver is abysmal because the work is too demanding for the $15 starting pay. There is not enough incentive to pick up shifts at other clinics and the differential for doing so isn't worth it. No 6 month review or pay increase. Want more money? Threaten to quit or apply to ARA. Average raise is maybe $0.50 for a year. They will reimburse you for CCHT exam, but the raise it comes with is a pitiful $0.50. That isn't even worth the hassle of becoming certified! Tuition reimbursement ONLY begins if you register for classes AFTER 90 days of employment. Also, tuition reimbursement ($3k a calendar year) is becoming way more restrictive, only applying for degree seeking student in business or nursing. Meaning your nursing pre-reqs aren't covered unless you are degree seeking and can prove it. RODs (your boss' boss) are no where to be seen.

Pros

Stable company to work for with great benefits. DaVita offers tuition reimbursement, so it pays to go back to school and get a degree. They also help with career advancement and development.

Cons

If you are new to dialysis, it may take a while to reach a decent wage. You are required to work 12 hour shifts, mostly on your feet, and managers will always look to add to your workload.

Pros

Patient connections is rewarding work, great hands on experience, paid on the job training, training for PCTs is at least consistent.

Cons

12+ hour long hours, emotionally and physically taxing, unqualified management, poor communication, inconsistent scheduling, high turn over, very little amount of opportunity for movement within the company despite preaching that they encourage it. The culture and values are heavily spoken about with little to no enforcement. The position requires significant dedication to learn all the moving parts of the clinic.
