Interesting find - Event Supervisor DRC Video Productions Employee Review

As a professional dance photographer I’m always excited to capture the amazing talent you’ll see in stages all over the country. If you love dance & love photography you’ll love working for this company. Everyone I’ve worked in management (all via email) has been very helpful & is great on getting back to you with any concerns I had. The staff at events usually one or two other - one doing sales another a videographer have always been rad & I’m grateful to call a few of them friends after working an event together.

They can be very long days & you will fire your shutter a lot however you know what you’re getting into when you accept the job & if you study dance you’ll find it’s not too hard to time your clicks correctly to capture the “peak” moments, there really is no reason to “spray & pray”. If you do your homework & follow the dancers correctly you shouldn’t be hitting your shutter more than 9K a weekend.

It would be a pretty decent job if you can get a gig in your area. Depending on a job, you'll typically work with a sales rep and a videographer - in my experience they're nice people, but there's little time to socialize. A simple meal is provided when it's a longer day of shooting. Best part: you get to be amazed by dancing skills of the competitors at those events.

- You're on your feet a lot, so make sure your back can take it, especially if you need to work for more than 6 hours on a single day. - If you're a freelancer and don't work with DRC on a very regular basis, don't expect to get paid fast. The company headquarters are in Canada, so if you're in the US, your check may take a few weeks to be delivered and then your bank will need another 2 to 8 weeks to process it. Your bank may also need to charge a fee for processing a foreign check. Ask DRC if they can do a direct deposit instead. - Jobs are few and far between because they have a long list of photographers willing to work with them - don't assume it will become your regular gig.
