Pros
A lot of meaningful experience to be gained in DP World, it is an excellent stepping stone into the professional world. While much of the role is customer service, it is B2B with plenty of administration and reporting on the side. There are some great managers here with the staff's interests at heart - my own manager and team before I left was incredible and imparted incredible wisdom and experience onto me.
Cons
• No real training is provided, as upon starting the primary training is shadowing and there is no CPD for anyone at administrator level. •As mentioned, there are some great managers - but the majority have been promoted internally not for their management skills but rather their performance in their role. •The workload can become far too much for one person to handle, and there is little in the way of support. It is clear that overworked managers are not sympathetic to their overworked staff, as they too have too much to handle to effectively manage their teams. I found most people were assigned new tasks regularly without any tasks being taken away. • There are no benefits and the bonuses are laughable. The first time we received a "bonus" it was a low sum one4all voucher, and everyone promptly deleted the email assuming it was a phishing attempt. • Most roles can be performed remotely, and indeed most were during COVID, but the company pushed for return to office without reason. • I personally never had this problem, but witnessed many others have their holidays cancelled. It could be booked months in advance, but poor planning by management meant that there was no cover available and the holidays had to be cancelled. • Raises are a nominal amount and far below inflation, you will earn less in real terms each year working here and the only path to higher earning is to get promoted or leave. • There are opportunities to progress, and higher roles open up from time to time - but that is because those roles are not sustainable and burnout is high.
