Pros
I have worked for multiple government/DOD labs before and there is by far more technical work done here at DMEA. Great work/life balance (Work to live – not the other way around). Fast paced work environment (keeps you busy), business driven, option to work on all stages of the product life cycle. Work can be very meaningful with real impacts to DOD. Many of the employee benefits include: Health and life insurance. Dental and vision are also available (if you choose it). 5% Matching 401k - called the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Alternative work schedules (3 day weekends every other week). 10 Federal holidays a year. Annual Leave and Sick Leave accrual (you can’t find that very often these days). Depending on project workload and supervisor approval, you can earn credit hours/comp-time to accumulate more vacation leave.
Cons
Promotion cycles are still based on the GS scale – but management is working on this, and people who perform at higher standards do get promoted faster. Due to the nature of work done here telework is not authorized for everyone.
