Pros

good benefits great colleagues flexible work environment there is no shortage of work

Cons

New corporate ownership making drastic changes from outside the company Technical hiring is now almost exclusively from the corporate-owned company in Pakistan The department is understaffed, underpaid and overworked - the corporate supervisor actually said if we were worth paying more we would have left a long time ago The new owners have replaced ALL managers with outsiders in a very short period High staff turnover and collapsing morale, the most skilled engineers have left since the arrival of the new ownership and management The company's corporate supervisor dismissively gaslights morale problems as mere "fear uncertainty and doubt"

Pros

Lots of families, work-life balance is great. There are a lot of employees who have worked at DIS for over 20 years, which says something about the loyalty and the interesting nature of the business. You get to work in tech in Bellingham, one of the most beautiful places on Earth, a small university city between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. Flat organization requires personal initiation - you can learn a lot but you have to be self-disciplined and have a personality that enjoys learning and taking on new challenges. The kitchen is beautiful and is fully stocked - for some this was the deciding factor in joining DIS.

Cons

This is a very flat organization, and while great for wearing multiple hats, at a certain point there is not a lot of room for career advancement. Compensation is salary + benefits, there are no bonuses or stock options (rather they offer 25% 401K matching).
