Pros

I came from another company that was bought out by DHL. They gave us offers and moved us to Scottsdale. The move packages were pretty fair, also I was able to keep my seniority with the company (the number of years worked), I was able to keep my previous pension as well as the new one with DHL, my 401k got better and my vacation time didn't change. As an international company you do get a lot of opportunities to work with a lot of nationalities, and in some cases the opportunity to travel globally. I also find my job personally enjoyable which is probably the main reason I'm still there.

Cons

DHL is owned by Deutsche Post of Germany, it is not an American company nor is it a fortune 500 company. The Germans do business a lot different than I was use to, and in my opinion not a very employee friendly company. They seem to be very unorganized and constantly changing things without letting any of the changes have time to make a difference. In the current atmosphere there is a lot of uncertainty due to job reduction in the business side and in the production run side we are in the middle of negotiations with HP to sell us.

Pros

Great compensation, benefits, and hours. Get to know many clients and businesses on route. Lots of exercise. Lots of alone time.

Cons

For some, the alone time can be very lonely. You are in a van or truck for many hours. Podcasts, radio, hands-free: get to love it. Sometimes logistics can be unpredictable. Delays, traffic, on-call pickups. You have to be very flexible and adaptive with fairly quick critical thinking skills to excel at this job.

Pros

Get entry level sales position. The company has great benefits..

Cons

You will be calling 80-100 times per day for months until you get promoted but it’s a fairly easy job. Can just be boring.
