Pretty good part-time, probably not a career though - Package Handler DHL Express Employee Review

Pros

- Decent starting pay and benefits considering how easy it is to get hired - Pretty casual environment, people are generally cool and helpful - Easy and rewarding work once you get your footing, that you don't have to take home - Good sense of camaraderie and working towards a common goal - Co-workers often notice and appreciate hard work (even if the supervisors don't)

Cons

- Depending on the schedule they give you, you could end up working mornings one day then nights the next. Keeps your sleeping habits constantly in flux - High turnover, so you're often picking up the slack from new people who are having to learn as they go thanks to inadequate training - Disconnected leads who will remove people from an area and send them somewhere else if the volume happens to be low for a moment, then when it picks back up you're undermanned - Very little chance for upward mobility, despite what the recruiters say - Top pay for a package handler is pretty low, and in the amount of time you have to stick around to reach it you could go to college and get a better job

Pros

Great compensation, benefits, and hours. Get to know many clients and businesses on route. Lots of exercise. Lots of alone time.

Cons

For some, the alone time can be very lonely. You are in a van or truck for many hours. Podcasts, radio, hands-free: get to love it. Sometimes logistics can be unpredictable. Delays, traffic, on-call pickups. You have to be very flexible and adaptive with fairly quick critical thinking skills to excel at this job.

Pros

Get entry level sales position. The company has great benefits..

Cons

You will be calling 80-100 times per day for months until you get promoted but it’s a fairly easy job. Can just be boring.
