Pros
The most enjoyable part of this job was being with the children. Seeing their growth and progression was really motivating and heartwarming. Alongside, I am lucky to have a few helpful & fun colleagues to work with.
Cons
1. The management is very poor. At least from what I know, manager will practically make you stay by increasing your pay which makes you feel stuck. 2. The salary vs workload!!! The quality required to be delivered, the responsibility needed to handle kids, bringing kids up and down, standing for long hours…. Does not match up to $8/hour!!!! Also, they state salary “From $8.00 per hour” please stop giving people false hope thanks! Even after working for 6months/1year, they don’t increase your pay. 3. There’s always short staffed which makes it very stressful whenever we’re working. Throughout my time in CTA I noticed that the manager only comes to you when she needs more ppl to work/help, though it’s understandable it angers people sometimes as there’s no genuine connection/ with the amount of workload & pay given, who would want to work? There’s definitely a distinct lack of authentic connection between staff and management. 4. It’s so hard to communicate with the main teachers. Especially when you’re taking over a class, you have no clue on which kid need extra help/attention. You have to figure out by yourself. 5. It’s feels kinda toxic when you hear full timers talking bad things about other people. there’s a clear line drawn between the assistant teachers and main teachers (ppl who are working full time and part time. the full timers are more bonded as compared to the part timers) 6. For benefits wise, there’s no such thing as Flexible schedule/Food provided.Manager frequently request for us stay back/work earlier which made it difficult to plan personal commitments.
