Pros

• the employees are talented people who care about their job • you get a lot of choice with the health insurance • can work remotely often • protective of time off and you're not expected to work while on PTO • they helped me start my career and did teach me some things • as an agency, they seem to have processes in place and are trying to enforce and evolve those

Cons

• Workamajig is not a good platform for completing projects, but it's the one they use now. the teams were confused and frustrated. team members' valid concerns are ignored and they are told "too bad, we are using this." • the onboarding for new platform was messy and took way too long. some things still had not happened after 6+ months of using the new system, for seemingly no reason. management didn't know how they wanted to use certain features, even after a year of prepping to switch. • they bragged about large bonuses, but i never got a large one regardless of solid work performance. • no raise, even for inflation, and regardless of solid work performance. • they had to lay off groups of people multiple times in my two years there. • promotions seem to be based on duration of employment and vibes instead of ability or growth. i was told 2-3 years when i started, but when that timeline was up and i asked, they said 2-3 more years and had no plan to get me promoted. • senior roles were brought in instead of training up junior roles. • people would complain about how busy they were but would not delegate or accept help. I asked constantly for more work and training, and it rarely ever happened. I ended up doing things that nobody else wanted to do, that were not technically my job, and that did not advance my career just to have something to do. • would preach accountability but not practice it. some people would just be allowed to not do things properly because that's just so-and-so for ya! • they did not tell me that there was a budget for the training course i was paying for on my own. i found out there's a budget for that during my exit interview.

Thank you for taking time to provide in depth feedback. We know parts of the rollout of the new project management software has been difficult. We're sorry it felt like we were being dismissive of your concerns. The truth is we hoped it was just a matter of getting used to the new system and we would work through it. It's obvious now that is not the case and we are addressing the issue head on. We are working on adjustments in how we use the software to better fit our ways of working. This is a high priority and we are moving quickly to resolve. We want the talented people who care about their job to stick around and be enthusiastic about working at Curious Plot (and not just for the great choices in health insurance)!

Pros

Curious Plot has an incredibly talented group of people who truly care about the work and about one another. There’s a strong sense of camaraderie, especially within functional teams. Even when things get busy, people support each other and find ways to get the work done. The culture balances creativity and accountability, and the leadership encourages everyone to bring their authentic selves to the table. It’s a place where you’re challenged, supported, and surrounded by people who push you to do your best work!

Cons

Like any agency, the pace can be a grind at times, but that comes with the territory.

Pros

There are some great people that work here. In the early days of my time I appreciated the no-nonsense approach to getting the work done. It is impressive the volume of work they were able to push through for certain clients with budgets. Flexible work environment. Nicely structured performance management process. Regular opportunities for promotion.

Cons

The switch from a user-friendly project management software to an archaic software that matched up with their accounting system was a killer to the company culture. Suddenly, everyone was in a bad mood. When reflecting on companies of a similar size or larger, there is a considerable ratio of SVPs and higher "managing" the company. For the 100-130 headcount, I think there are at least 10 SVPs and higher, if not more. There are at least 3-4 longterm employees (6+ years) that have a well-established perception among employees of "what do they even do?"

We agree we have great people at Curious Plot who have done impressive work for our clients over the years! As we have grown, we identified the need to improve some processes, including our project management software, to ensure we are able to manage the increased volume of work and continue to meet deadlines and exceed expectations for all our clients. We are working on adjustments in how we use the software to better fit the needs of our people. This is a high priority. Our senior leaders, unless exclusively focused on operations, all have client responsibilities in addition to responsibilities for managing people and keeping our facilities and equipment operating efficiently so the rest of us can focus on our clients. While you may not see everything we do on a daily basis to keep the agency running, rest assured we are managing the daily details required to keep the lights on for you!
