Pros

It's fun to learn the processes behind making all the products. Coworkers were nice too.

Cons

This location is family owned which caused several problems. The owner is EXTREMELY prideful and views himself as the savior of people who used to work in food/retail/etc. He treats his store like it's God's gift to poor workers who don't know how the real world works. I had much more fun at my serving job and made more money. The owner also goes on 45 minute rants that mean absolutely nothing and are extremely toxic and degrading. It's like he takes the time to remind you who's the boss and manipulate you into submitting to his every whim. He talks in circles and doesn't make a point. I actually had to keep from laughing. Pay is low and they lord it over you like you couldn't make the exact same at a fast food restaurant. Owner straight up said after the federal minimum wage was raised that he didn't think some people even deserved to make that much. No benefits offered whatsoever. They tell you that even though you don't have vacation, you can just request time off and they'll approve it. They hated when I took days off, though, even though I alerted them of all but two that would be happening before I ever got the job, and they agreed to it. They later told me that they typically expected people to take off 2-3 days a year other than something like a family vacation. They make you sign papers that say you won't take days off in May or October because those are the busy months. Fine, whatever. However, they later changed it to add April and made us sign papers again saying we agreed to that. THEN they added March when the month had already started. This meant I had to cram every appointment, exam, or doctor visit I had over the next two months into the last week of March. You're also expected to stay after 5pm on any day that they expect you to, and they can't promise that you'll have a normal schedule until they release it. You just have to work to make up for the lack of people they hire. Finally, the weirdest part was the dogs they bring to work every day. They told me in the beginning that one would eventually warm up to me but that I should just leave the other one alone. Fine, sounds good. The one did warm up to me, just like they said. The other, however, who is literally blind, found ways to track people down and attack them. He had attacked every person in the building by the time I was three months in. One day he walked up to me, sniffed my hand, then sank his teeth into my leg. Thankfully I was in jeans or it would have been much worse. However, I was only offered antiseptic and a few minutes to recover. Each time he attacked, they'd gently discipline the dog (if at all) and just move him. He was a menace and my coworkers and I were not safe in the same room as him. This is not a safe, supportive, or encouraging place to work. There's much more that can be said, but I wouldn't be able to stop typing. Please, go elsewhere.
