Pros
Overall, the people are really kind and welcoming. Everyone works for a common goal. If you make connections, get to know others, and demonstrate genuine interest, an internal promotion/departmental switch is possible, but doesn't happen frequently. Company lunches and free books are a definite perk! The benefits offered (medical, dental, vision) are really good for a non-profit organization.
Cons
Higher-up leadership (CEO, CFO, President, etc.) are very detached from the rest of the company and don't get to know employees very well. Women are not promoted or given opportunities to advance to higher leadership positions, and are typically paid less than the male employees are, depending on the role. You don't get much opportunity to advance, unless you make yourself 'visible' to the leadership of the department you desire to move to. If you are a woman, don't plan on advancing too far unless you work super hard.
