Pros

Great work-life balance and focus on the "whole employee." Executives are focused on building up employees to win in their job and personal lives. Nice salary structure, especially for nonprofits.

Cons

Every organization has issues from time to time but I cannot think of anything too awful.

Pros

CrossPurpose is on the leading edge of non-profit work. They have a fun-loving and familial atmosphere that cultivates doing your best so that people in poverty can succeed. They are nearly the only ones in the country doing what they are doing (I've searched). The complaints from the other reviews about diversity and lack of leadership are generally not true. There is a priority on hiring PoC, women, and people from the neighborhood. Only 2/5 chief positions are white males (that's rare). Look at the staff page if you want more. Plus, the vast majority of clients are PoC. Regarding leadership, they are all extremely friendly. Management was so understanding and gracious with all of my many requests. As for the final allegation of "being overworked," there is no requirement to overwork yourself. If you are overworking, that is entirely your fault. There is strict observance of professional and timely behavior, and overtime is discussed if wanted. Some people went above and beyond because they truly loved the work and mission. The people at CrossPurpose are usually hard workers and passionate. Way better than the typical non-profit. If you feel "pressured to be overworked," that's not the organization's fault - it is probably yours. Overall, the negative reviews are from coaches who are the "school counselor" staff-to-client broad equivalent of CrossPurpose. They might tend to get involved in emotional drama that is usually their fault and quit - from all I experienced there. CrossPurpose is a well-oiled machine that generates income for people in poverty like most other local non-profits can't come close to, and it has a great staff around it. If you ask me why I'm so passionate about it, it's because over the years I was there, I've been lucky to have a first-hand witness to tons of people who had no hope in life transform their career lives FOR FREE, and they are a new person with hope for their families. It's absolute magic if you ask me.

Cons

Apart from my glowing review, which I wholeheartedly believe, no human place can be perfect. If I had to say something bad about CrossPurpose, I would have liked a little bit more office space. But the intimate atmosphere could be fun and communal anyways.

Pros

The mission of the organization is fantastic, and many individuals have been supported by its work. There are truly lovely employees that create a great atmosphere. There is always opportunity to grow and learn new skills.

Cons

Leadership at CP is more concerned with optics and self-aggrandizement than actually helping people. They recruit people of color to work for them for the sake of optics but use them and refuse to hear their actual voices. Jason is like a poisonous tropical fish - his charm pulls you in, but if you get too close, he is poison. If you’re a smart person looking to love your neighbor, be prepared to be steamrolled into doing exactly what they want (regardless of if you agree), or you will find yourself verbally and spiritually abused.
