Project Engineer - Project Engineer Crestron Electronics Employee Review

Pros

Great reputation to the outside world in terms of innovation and flexibility. On the A/V side, it has had a successful run as a provider of flexible systems that can support most needs. The commercial lighting side is growing at an extraordinary rate and expected to keep climbing in 2017.

Cons

Communication is almost non-existent between management and staff. Management makes decisions based on uneducated assumptions. Although not "officially" expected, some admins have been known to work until 5AM on weekends to try and catch up and early nights on the weekdays is 11PM. Employee titles are changed without notice and with total disregard of how it can affect your career and that of your colleagues within the organization and outside. There are no bonuses. Everyone gets 15 days of PTO after one year. This includes sick days and personal days.

Pros

Relaxed. Management understands traditional AV industry is saturated and is trying hard to pivot the company into new direction. Whether it will work or not is to be seen.

Cons

This place really needs to re-evaluate how they hire and retain engineers. Across all disciplines, there are many senior level engineers who have no idea what they are doing. Some lack such basic engineering skills and knowledge which makes one wonder if they had proper higher level education or lied about their past career experiences on their resume. Most of them are genuinely nice people, but they are really dragging down productivity.
