Pros

-Opportunities to use and develop skills -The company does host holiday parties and tries to make employees feel appreciated on their birthdays, but there's room for improvement in the overall culture. -The AP + Receivable and office managers here are very friendly and are nice people here that try to make you as comfortable as possible -The president is generally affable but can have his moments.

Cons

-Highly conservative and religious environment. -Lack of diversity in the small team (could be contributed to talent pool, who knows). -Potential for discomfort or hostility if beliefs don't align (you might be baited & scrutinized, I was baited then screamed at for an opposing view though want to say I did eventually get an apology during my exit interview which I could appreciate). -Had to endure a microaggression although it may just be contributed to ignorance. (being called articulate as the only young Black woman in the workplace is not the compliment one thinks it is).

Pros

Over time, company owner built a solid reputation as a knowledgable firm in the direct response industry with multiple writing and publishing projects for financial consultants and supplement companies as its two main staples.

Cons

While seen as a "old time" leader in the direct response industry, working for CDMG is a sham. The owner made specific promises about the position and instead, from day one, I was tasked with working on his private Fundamental Christian-political newsletter called Reality Alert - a horrifying betrayal. As the publisher, the owner is not around, no access, although he is responsible for approving the content of the agency newsletters. The staff is scared, tense, and the overall atmosphere is meanness. Expect a bullying atmosphere of confusion, passive-aggresiveness and projected anger. The owner openly displays discrimination towards gays and forcing employees to work on his personal projects - political/religious under the guise of a for-profit marketing agency is illegal, distasteful and harmful. The promise to a more fulfilling career is impossible - the lies start the moment you step into the office.
