Pros
The people you meet within the team at CDL, and in the greater CDL community are truly top-notch. The purpose and meaning gained from the work being done and the people surrounding you are second-to-none. There is a lot of agency given to the employees of all levels to bring ideas forward, be heard, and be able to go execute on them, leading their own projects and sub-initiatives in addition to the main scope of work. Everyone is tightly-knit, truly becoming a family in the office, and it is truly a fun job. The further opportunities CDL can provide are also immeasurably huge. I learned more at this job than I have anywhere else in my life.
Cons
The balance of work is cyclical in its intensity, with period of quieter times ramping into very busy times, and that repeating itself. This causes periods to feel a bit overwhelming, while others feel like you are looking for work. This is accommodated for by the management, and they do really try to look after you. As an employee of CDL you are actually employed by the university that is hosting the site, which comes with more rigid contracts and less flexibility. This also has pros, which are to do with pensions and benefits though!
