Pros

Being the founder, I'm aware that my perspective has the potential to be biased. That said, maybe folks would like to hear what I think about Cozy. For the record, I gave myself a neutral rating. Team Cozy is the nicest, most open-minded group of people I've ever worked with in 20 years in tech, and I've worked with some high horsepower teams. Our management team is rock solid, and that foundation allows everyone on Team Cozy to grow, learn, and truly take on as much they want. We value everyone's input and opinions, and regularly seek those things. We are a lean team, and that isn't for everyone. It means everyone carries a lot of weight (and has outsized impact), but it also means there's nowhere to hide. There's is no mediocrity here. We're open, and we all push each other hard to be better. Being small and lean means your time at Cozy is truly what you want to make of it; push yourself to take on more, and you'll be rewarded. It's simple. We value quality of life. You can't do great work if work is all you do. Lastly, we're solving real problems that affect everyone. Housing is universal, and building a service that gives people time back, allows peace of mind, and improves the quality of peoples' lives feels great.

Cons

We can always improve everything; building something big from nothing is messy. :-) The good thing is, nothing is set in stone here. We constantly question ourselves, constantly shed things that aren't working, and aggressively experiment to find things that do. We can always get better at: • Diversity. We're committed to the struggle. • Communication across departments, and across the company. • Our design & development process. It's good, but there's a ton of room to improve. • Operational efficiency. ... there are so many, and we work everyday to make the Cons list go away. We're also aware that it never will.

Pros

I've worked for big and small companies, but Cozy feels like home. The benefits are incredibly generous (100% medical, 4-week sabbaticals, education allowance, unlimited vacation time, free lunches) and there are opportunities for everyone to grow and have a voice. The CEO is always accessible to anyone who wants to meet, and does his best to make Cozy a place where employees can do their best work. There are many company-sponsored social outings, like laser tag, top golf, happy hours, work time to attend educational conferences, and contributions to organizations that the employees believe in. In my short time there, I've seen entry level employees in non-technical roles (e.g. customer support, marketing, customer success), gain experience coding via mentorships and dedicated time away from regular responsibilities, to learn the new skills. Managers look for ways to lift up team members and set them up for success.

Cons

In early 2018, the CTO quit after making, what I felt to be, unreasonable demands to run the entire company. For months thereafter, some employees seemed like they were still having a hard time with the loss and a few of them became uncollaborative towards those who didn't share their unfavorable opinion the CEO. To help, the management team has invested in, and is still investing in multiple catalysts (company-wide DE&I seminars, additional 1:1 meetings, off-sites, new related and intentional hires) to reunify the entire team, and it seems to be working - things are getting better and morale is improving every day.
