Pros
It was nice working from home.
Cons
I spent a year at Covenant. During that time, my treatment as an employee degraded rapidly. This was a result of the behaviors of two specific supervisors: Mr. Red and Mr. Blue as well as the manager I reported to Mr. Purple (names changed for privacy). Mr. Blue was more ignorant than obviously sexist. In a rather ironic moment, he once mansplained the concept of 'mansplaining' to our team. Mr. Red on the other hand is openly sexist and and demeaning. He would say belittling and disparaging things about his wife in front of the whole team as if it were an acceptable thing to do. Mr. Red's disrespect also bled further into the work place where he would speak poorly of clients when I was on the phone with them, actively damaging those business relationships. Mr. Red made it crystal clear that his ego and arrogance came first, making false claims and reacting in a volatile manner when corrected. Mr. Red also has a favored tool for “teaching” where he would ask an employee a question. If the employee's answer was not what Mr. Red was expecting he would ask the exact same question again. He would do this, halting all projects until the answer he was looking for was given wasting both company and client time. More than once a project that should have been accomplished in a few days was stretched out to take weeks to complete. Another consistency between Mr. Red and Mr. Blue was when they would give me assignments that I had never done before. Wanting to do the job properly I would ask for direction, but none would be given and I would be dismissed for "asking too many questions". They would would then reprimand me when what I produced was not what they were expecting. After working with Mr. Red and Mr. Blue for a year, I was getting tired of being treated poorly and unfairly. Their unreasonable managing style was hindering my work and Mr. Red's aggressive and explosive demeanor made me scared of him. So I went to Mr. Purple and told him about the situation I found myself in. Instead of working with me to come to a resolution, Mr. Purple dismissed my concerns and insisted that the situation was of my own making an inferred that I was at fault for Mr. Red's holding up of progress on projects. I was also told that I was asking too many questions when I needed to be working, but also that I was not asking enough questions about projects I needed guidance on. Mr Purple then ended the meeting by stating that he would speak to Mr Red and Mr. Blue. Unfortunately things with Mr. Red and Mr. Blue just got more difficult, eventually culminating in my termination. I will say that I only had problems with these three men when I worked there, so your experience may differ from mine. I just wanted to tell you what it’s actually like working there, and to tell you about the type of people that Covenant puts in their leadership positions.
