Pros

Company participates in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS - vested after 5 yrs.); fair wages; great medical/dental plans; well maintained buses; friendly, helpful co-workers; good supervisors (no micromanaging); union shop (ATU Local 1605) for Transit Operators, good training for Operators (7 weeks) and DMV Class B drive test is done in-house or at a DMV Commercial Driver location (Fremont or Sacramento).

Cons

Currently, limited openings for full-time positions available (more part-time positions to choose from). Current full-time positions are mostly split shifts (paid at 40 to 40+ hours a week).

Pros

Some good people work here.

Cons

The County Connection does not pay social security taxes. So employees cannot contribute to their social security retirements. Due to traffic you're not guaranteed brakes during your runs. Management protects employees who they are friends with. Favoritism is standard at The County Connection. The Union agrees to deals with management that effect drivers working conditions without opening it up to a Driver Union vote. The Union does not disclose how they spend Union dues.
