Pros

This is a great organization and I am proud to be a part of it. The starting wages are fair and you receive regular performance reviews and wage increases. The office is quiet, super-clean, and nicely appointed. There are a number of bonuses available to reward stellar performance. The schedules are done well in advance and there is almost always overtime available if you want to pick up some extra hours. The have an employer-matched 401k plan, profit share, medical and dental insurance, and a myriad of employee appreciation days (luncheons, contests, and what not). What I really appreciate about Cosmopolitan is the company / employee culture. It sounds cliche but we really are a family here. Everyone is here is respectful and respected. We work and succeed as a team. We have a very diverse staff (ethnically, spiritually, politically, and all else) and its all good. There are also many opportunities for advancement. Our admin folks, Account Managers, Team Managers, Trainers, and Sales teams have all started on the phones and have taken advantage of different positions when they became available. Dedication, a positive attitude, and critical thinking are appreciated and can lead to other opportunities.

Cons

I wouldn't call these cons, but rather just the nature of working in an inbound call center; everything revolves around the incoming calls. Work time, breaks, lunches, ect, are all strategically arranged to ensure that incoming calls are being answered as timely as possible. Therefore, schedule adherence is pretty important around here. It spreads out the workload, the calls get answered quickly, and our clients are happy to boot. Also, we work holidays. That said, they pay time and a half on holidays (and in some cases the night before!). Personally, I never really minded working holidays. Thanksgiving for example, if I worked a morning shift I would be off and home just in time for the feast. I didn't have to help with any of the prep and I wouldn't be expected to clean up because, hey - I worked all day, right? :-) Each holiday season they pass around a roster where folks can list their preference on which holidays to work and which to have off. They really do their best to make it work out so everyone can have their preferred holidays off. Family time is important too.

Pros

HR is awesome. It’s so slow, you can talk to your coworkers all day, if that’s what you’re in to. The initial training was good.

Cons

Poor management. Poor benefits that are astronomical in price. No paid holidays, even though it’s advertised as if they do. The CEO is not rude and every employee is on edge when she’s around - it doesn’t help that she talks horribly and loudly about team members when they’re around. She doesn’t care about her employees, which means the company as a whole doesn’t appreciate you since everyone is obligated to obey her orders, regardless of her poor judgement. Those higher up in the company are shady when it comes to their clients - they price gouge and do whatever it takes to keep clients in contract, even if it means lying. Anyone with a conscience won’t be able to continue employment as many things that are done are immoral.

Cosmopolitan Medical Communications does not believe this review was written by a current team member and we disagree with its content. Cosmopolitan does in fact offer paid holidays and full and affordable health care benefits as required under the ACA. We currently offer both HMO and PPO plans with United Health Care. We are enjoying our 42nd year in business with many long term employees.
