Pros

No sick hours. Your PTO (paid time off) will cover for any time you were out of work due to illness. You receive 3 hours of PTO per paycheck. No competitive pay, No respectful raises. Raises are usually 10-25% of a dollar every year. (For Example: Your raise will be about .11 cents a year.) Your taxes will be impacted, You make less than the national average yet pay more in taxes. No way to bargain for better pay. Not enough people stay long enough to create a union to ensure better pay. Management shows little to absolute zero care of your wellbeing/career development/cost of living expenses. We receive millions every year by partnering with CDCR, yet consistently are told that there is "no money" available for raises etc. Most successful re-entry program in San Diego, CA yet staff are treated like inmates in regards to false promises. No management accountability. No town-hall meetings to assess facility requirements. Corecivic CEO D. Hininger's reported salary for the 2024 Fiscal Year was almost 8 million. Average Corecivic Re-Entry Services staff salary in San Diego, CA [$50k/yr] in 2025. Average salary needed to live in San Diego CA in 2025? [$110k/yr].

Cons

You get to see how a dysfunctional company runs. You get to take what you learned to other much better companies out there.

Pros

CC Uses cutting-edge Technologies, which is good experience for resume building; many of the Teams are collaborative; interesting work and you can believe in company goals.

Cons

Director and Manager level mgmt at corporate here do not provide guidance on projects. There is a lot of turnover on data projects because new employees are thrown into the deep end and then just blamed if results are not as expected. CC really needs more hands-on project oversight. There are also behavioral and anger issues with a couple long-time ppl as well, and this is both exhausting and (sometimes) outright humiliating. They need to treat new people better.
