Pros

The multitude of negative reasons far outweigh any positives.

Cons

Corazon is a family company - the majority of the employees are family members or close family friends. The experiences of family members vs. the “outsiders” are dramatically different. The nepotism in this company is palpable and quite frankly it is disgusting. The starting salaries of family members are much higher than someone in the same exact position but not a family member. The promotions are reserved for family members. Almost every member of the leadership team and board of directors are family members or close family friends. All of this would be OK if they had earned their spots. However, their resumes are laughable. Not a single one of them would be in the same position in any other consulting company or other healthcare setting. They don’t realize the strengths of their employees and they certainly do not leverage them. It is rare in this company to have relevant experience. The only people who do are those who are not family members. Non-relevant degrees and experience are the standard. They tout a “flexible work environment.” This is absolutely not true. They also deem themselves as “Industry Experts,” but frequently sign projects that they have absolutely no business signing. The team assigned to the project will scramble to figure out what exactly they’re supposed to do and what they’re supposed to know. If you’re applying for a client-facing position, be aware that it will be likely that you will be assigned a project that is likely beyond your scope of knowledge and therefore, beyond your comfort level. Their “HR” department is nonexistent. This is the most disrespectful HR department that I have ever worked with, if you can even call it an HR department. I would never, ever, go to Corazon HR with any issue. If you have any concerns about working for a company that does not have an established HR department - do not work for this company. Your issues will become common knowledge across the entire company (well, among the family members, at least). How is this acceptable? Because there are no consequences for any of the employed family members. Corazon burns bridges with every. single. person. who chooses to pursue another opportunity. They treat those who decide to leave the company with disgust and exile them. I don’t believe anyone who has decided to leave this company has left on good terms. Corazon laughs it off, assumes that that’s the way it will be, and doesn’t understand the repercussions of burning bridges. Corazon takes employees leaving as a personal attack. One of the most dangerous phrases a company can mutter is, “well this is how we’ve always done it,” and continue to do whatever it is they’re referring to. This is Corazon’s motto. Innovation and forward-thinking is never encouraged. If you bring up any of the above issues - it doesn’t go anywhere. Or, you get reprimanded for thinking this way or speaking up. I chose to work for Corazon for a reason. At one point, I truly wanted to see the company thrive. I truly believed in the services they offer. But due to the aforementioned reasons (and many, many more) - I stopped believing in the company and stopped wanting to be associated with them. Despite all of this...nothing will ever change with this company. They put all of the blame on the employees who choose to leave. They believe they have created the most amazing work environment. It is absolutely mind-boggling that despite negative reviews...nothing. changes.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback. It is unfortunate that your experience at Corazon was less than desirable. We are always trying to find ways to improve the employee work environment so that we can do “business better.” While Corazon could be identified as a family company, our employee team is composed of more than just family and/or close friends. Currently, of those employed by the company, one-third are family or close friends of family members. Clearly, this is much less than the majority of the company. Corazon is not a business that provides preferential treatment to family members which is also evidenced in an ownership base that involves many non-relatives. In reviewing starting salaries for all employees by job title upon hire, all individuals are paid in a way that is commensurate with their knowledge and experience. There are many instances of family members that were paid less than a non-family member for the same position. Familial relationships play no role in salary. Over the past two years, there were a total of 13 promotions awarded to various deserving employees with only five promotions awarded to family members. Promotions are undoubtedly awarded to someone that has earned it. Corazon continues to be a very flexible work environment for all employees. This was demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic where many companies were forced to close or furlough employees. Corazon was able to allow all employees to work remotely until there could be a safe transition back to the office. In fact, we have moved to a hybrid work model where any employee can work remotely as needed. Thank you again for your feedback. We wish you the best for your future experiences. Kind Regards, Karen Hartman CEO & President Corazon, Inc.
