Pros

The water in the water cooler was cold. Patient interaction was fulfilling. Every single employee at my branch was pleasant to work with. The team atmosphere is contagious at times. My direct supervisor was fantastic. There are opportunities to advance if you are willing to work 60 hours a week.

Cons

I was a per-diem employee, which most companies would classify as part-time (about 24 hours a week). I was hired through an agency at a fair wage considering that no benefits were going to be offered. After six months of employment, CVS decided that I was a good employee, so they offered me a job at 7% less pay (!), non-negotiable, no benefits, and obviously below the market average. I was a sucker and took the offer because I liked my colleagues. That was a foolish mistake on my part. I should have resigned immediately. On-call shifts are required for all pharmacists. That can be brutal on the weekends. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING WORKING AT CORAM FULL-TIME, BURN THE NEXT SENTENCE INTO YOUR MIND: All full time pharmacy employees must take turns covering weekday and weekend call, so it is not uncommon to work 12 days straight, ranging 8-12 hours on any given day. If that sounds reasonable to you, the go for it, but first say goodbye to your health and to your family. The per-diem pharmacists fill in a minimized number of weekly shifts so the full-timers don't perish. Coram’s software is on par with 1998 technology. Each employee logs into various programs 30-50 times a day, and must change passwords every two months (Honestly, Coram would be 10% more efficient if they used fingerprint login technology). Every single day is a repeat of the inefficiency from the day before. Crushing overtime is required for full time employees. Work-life balance is not a concept that ever gets explored. Coram's employee turnover rivals the turnover at Hot Dog on a Stick. Employees that go home on time are viewed with contempt. Loyal employees do not know if they will be working 8 hours or 12 hours on any given day. Managers want every employee to excel at every job, which is not possible, and certainly not efficient even if it were possible. Insecurity abounds causing people to work when they should be eating lunch, and work when they should be home sick.
