Pros

- Growth. This company is growing at a blistering pace. Revenue has grown 6x while headcount has grown 2x in the year that I've been here. And we're just scratching the surface of some areas. - Incredible pace. I've learned more here (technically) in under a year than in 3 years at previous employer. - Incredible opportunity. Trucking is a $700B market in the U.S. alone. This company will soon be a "unicorn" and has much more room to grow after that. - Generous comp. The salary is good, and the stock options are generous. You have the option to negotiate and trade off options for salary depending on your life situation. - Transparency. On day one, employees get full visibility into the business including financials, growth data, strategy, etc. The business is very straightforward to understand and follow. - Ownership. Most engineers work fullstack, across codebases, and learn/ramp up as necessary to deliver features. No territorialism. - Talent. We have hired the heads of Uber Seattle and Dropbox Seattle as engineering managers. There's a lot of talent and experience from top tech companies mixed with expertise in transportation and logistics. The engineers here are on average much more capable, hard-working, and motivated than at big tech co's in the area. You will learn a lot from the people you work with. - Tech. We mostly have a Javascript/Typescript stack (with some python/R on the data side), with a strong emphasis on engineering excellence, CI, testing, code review, and accountability. There is a healthy amount of knowledge sharing through collaboration, brownbags, mentoring, etc. We have tons of opportunity to apply automation and AI to large-scale real business problems (scheduling, market making, forecasting, exception handling, scorecards, etc.). - Culture. This company has strong values, such as "Always Have a Sense of Urgency" and "Recover Quickly", which are reinforced into the culture. There is a focus on diversity and openness, not just in demographics but in perspectives and backgrounds as well. - Work Life Balance. There is ample opportunity to work your butt off for highly motivated people who are building their careers. There's also the understanding that some of us have families and are going to want to work a fairly regular 9-6 schedule. Schedule and working from home is flexible. Unlimited vacation, and you can actually take it - a week a quarter is fine. What matters is that you are fully engaged while you are working. If you don't want to work hard, Convoy is not for you. If you want to work hard, but still have a life and a family, do triathlons, travel, or whatever, you totally can. - People. People here are friendly, intelligent, collaborative, and engaged. - Mission. We're bringing efficiency to and modernizing a highly fragmented industry. Shippers, carriers, consumers, the environment, and Convoy will all win as we make efficiency gains.

Cons

I view these as disclaimers, not really cons. Know what to expect when you come here. - Expectation to deliver. The people around you will be delivering great work. Unlike at some big companies, where mediocrity can get you by, expectations are fairly high here and you will independently own and be accountable for projects. - Fewer benefits than at large tech companies. We're more like an Amazon here. If you want to be pampered, go to Facebook. If you want to modernize a critical industry, come here.
