Pros

I liked I was able to work when I wanted

Cons

The company did not pay me on time and cut me a check that bounced. The replacement check they issued was not signed. I submitted my route sheets and notes on time but they never seemed to be able to find them even after being sent certified mail. I only worked one 4-6hr shift a week but they still didn't seem to be able to pay me. Finally had to refuse to work before they cut me the check. When I finally quit working for them they didn't schedule a different nurse or let the patient's family know they didn't have it staffed.

Continuity Care Home Nurses has been in business more than 25 years. I am unaware of a "bounced check" for any employee. We do pay employees per the pay schedule and appreciate those field nurses that comply with the weekly paperwork requirement. The lesson from this posting is to send the notes in timely and communicate with office staff. If you quit with no notice then it takes time to line up another staff member. I am sorry you had a negative experience. We cut 150+ checks every two weeks and most staff in the field have been here many years (some over 10 years). Most are getting paperwork in weekly per Agency standard then getting paid per the pay schedule. I am unaware of this situation of you getting a bounced check and another check with no signature. Most office staff have been here more than 10 years and are familiar with agency policy. Best to get documentation in weekly and make sure to familiarize yourself with pay schedule.

Pros

Management is easily accessible, any issues are dealt with promptly and fairly. Very diverse group of people to work with. There is always someone available to talk to if you need help or guidance. Educational opportunities are offered in areas that enhance your knowledge and provide opportunities for growth within the organization. The employees are valued and very much appreciated for all their hard work and the company makes every effort to show the appreciation to all of the employees. It is a fun environment, I cannot emphasize what a great job this has been and how much I actually enjoy going to work every day. Not many people can say they love their joy, I am happy to say that I can say it. High standards are demanded for the care of our patients and I feel that is a pro. When your dealing with the personal care of another person or their family member, only the best can be the acceptable standard.

Cons

Since I love my job so much, I rarely take a vacation, even though I am constantly encouraged to do so. I guess I really should do that someday soon.

Pros

Different cases to work. Pay is above average for related positions elsewhere. A lot of psych cases. The staff in the office has been there a long time and are mainly a pleasure to talk to.

Cons

Some staff unorganized and lack professionalism. They will speak to you in an intrusive manner. Protect your license, do not work here unless you have years of experience. When in doubt speak to RN case manager not unlicensed staff and document. Always check your hours and pay. Rate of pay stated for a case may not reflect what you are payed. Know the name of the staff you spoke to regarding rate of pay for case. Always get confirmation on your faxes. Several occasions items supposedly were never received. No direct deposit. Checks bi-weekly.

Specialty is long term private duty skilled and non-medical care. Our pay rate is higher because we only hire experienced staff. We do not hire new grads or staff without experience. Agree we are not for everyone - if you do not have the right experience our cases might be difficult for the new nurse (patients on ventilators, etc). We cannot do direct deposit as we need the notes in and we only bill from signed time cards and notes turned in. We shy away from faxes and have a central email address where you can scan/email notes and time cards but do require original documents to come into the office. There are multiple fax machines in all offices so it is best to use the central email address provided in orientation. We do require documentation and everyone needs malpractice insurance if you work in home care. Agency always looking for ways to improve communication with office and field nurses.
