Pros

Diverse set of responsibilities means you develop skills you can use in just about any job. I'm definitely better at project management, client engagement, and writing having worked at Context. Smart, young group that knows how to work together. It's nice to be on the same page with the people you see everyday. Small company with BIG Fortune 500 clients, so you can get a start-up vibe and exposure to multinationals at the same time. Their business just keeps growing and growing, that means new clients, new projects, new opportunities. Good snacks! (You're gonna gain a little weight there, just accept that.)

Cons

The salary, benefits, and bonuses aren't great, considering the amount of time spent at the office. I didn't feel professional development was a priority or that I could specialize in what I felt I did best. Management is very smart, but they can be tough. I did see tons of improvement during my time there and friends who are still at Context tell me that this trend continues, so take this point with a grain of salt.

Pros

Fun, fast-paced consulting environment with opportunity to learn from CSR veterans - founders have 20+ years of experience. Enjoyed working with clients from all walks of life - Pharma, Tech, Healthcare - and at all stages of sustainability program development. Perfect for someone willing to roll up sleeves and jump in.

Cons

Challenging environment if not willing to take responsibility for own success and learn by doing. Could be difficult for someone with no serious work experience or little knowledge of corporate responsibility.

Pros

At many companies, interns are assigned mostly menial tasks and monotonous work. But at Context, interns are given incredible opportunities for development and are treated with the utmost respect. From the start, I was regularly asked what I wanted to get out of my internship, and the project managers helped me achieve that and more. I was able to directly contribute to client-facing work, learn about an array of differing industries and develop a wide range of skills. Everyone in the office was interested in my professional growth, providing regular constructive criticism and encouragement. Not only did they provide feedback, but they also worked with me to develop skills and strategies for my own improvement. The balanced office culture also really contributed to making my internship such a positive experience. Everyone is diligent, focused, and fastidious, yet it’s not a high stress environment. When you join Context, you really join a team of caring, bright, driven individuals. People care about each other’s lives and success. Even as an intern, a temporary employee, they made me feel like I was part of the team, too. Working at Context was an extremely rewarding experience, and I’d highly recommend it.

Cons

The downside to working with high-achieving, detail oriented individuals is that the bar for success is quite high. Add that to a steep learning curve, and it can be a bit overwhelming and disheartening.
