Pros

Unbelievably great place to work! The work is interesting and important. ( who doesn’t want a better world by innovation?)The people are nice and helpful. The pay is good and IC is generous and based on shared goals. Benefits are strong and some are unique ($40k to buy a home, student loan pay off, boot camp, Las Vegas event). CTA wins multiple best place to work awards each year!

Cons

There is much to do- for an important mission. The pace of work is fast and not everyone can flourish at CTA even though the people who work there are incredibly nice and supportive. While the culture allows flexibility - and people dealing with serious personal challenges get some leniency, newer employees may not succeed if they don’t put in top effort or carry their weight, or if their attitude is negative. This is a high-performing workplace and every open position gets many applicants-the screening process for new hires is rigorous, but not perfect. Fit is important.

Pros

The mentor program for employees is a great way for staff to confidentially seek advice and guidance from an employee with more experience and in a higher position than them. Every staff is set up with a mentor, so it’s random selection. The other pro is getting to leave at the end of every day.

Cons

Almost every single review says that everyone who works here is super nice, but I disagree. I think most people have a keep-to-themselves-attitude, while others were fake-nice. This is the most mundane 9 to 5 ever, the only exciting thing that ever happens is when the company goes to Vegas and everyone posts about it on LinkedIn for weeks and then everyone goes back to work. This is a glorified adult daycare. The worst part about working here is how much senior employees are allowed to continuously abuse their power (because they have nothing better to do with their lives) and mistreat lower level employees, and no one does anything about it. In my specific department, I was working under someone deceptive, sneaky, and verbally nasty, and with a reputation for being a bully. Lucky me! I will not miss dreading what nasty messages I might open my phone to, though I think that experience is unique to me. Hopefully with the recent change in leadership, there might be a difference in environment. Avoid this place at all costs, better yet just don’t even work in Virginia- find a way cooler job in DC!
