Pros

I've worked as a consultant on two occasions. And each time, HTC found the opportunity that perfectly matched with my experience. As a result, I delivered the results the clients were looking for and I felt satisfied knowing I was making an impact to the company. They offer most of the typical benefits that employers provide these days such as healthcare and 401k so it's nice to be able to have access to them.

Cons

Timing and demand is everything. There are times when clients are specific about what they're looking for and therefore they may not have a project when you're actually available. But when there's a match, things moved fast.

Pros

They have your back and care about YOUR success.

Cons

Regular small business challenges. But they officially got acquired so that may have changed.

Pros

I worked for Connext (formerly High Tech Connect) for 2.5 years as a communications consultant at a well-known Mountain View technology company. This consulting engagement eventually led to a permanent position that I still hold. Working with Rene, Shandy and the Connext team was a very positive experience on several levels. They genuinely care about their consultants and always had my back. Rene is an excellent mentor who earned my trust by always telling it like it is. Across the board they are just very pleasant people to work with, which is rare in the typically cutthroat world of staffing firms. I’d also add that the Connext compensation and benefits were generous, and they throw super-cool events for their consultants. I continue to stay in touch with my friends from Connext, and if I ever find myself in need of communications work in Silicon Valley, they are the first people I’ll call.

Cons

There really aren’t any cons. If you are fortunate enough to land a placement through Connext, consider it a blessing and work as hard for the client as Connext works for their consultants.
