Coniq Response
7yHi,
I am sorry you didn't have a good time while you were here, but I'm glad you got on with the team, and liked the general atmosphere.
I'm keen to respond to some of the things you didn't like.
The most important for me is that I'm sorry you and the CEO didn't get your working relationship right. One of the nice things about working for a company like us is that we are not hierarchical, and the CEO sits at a desk in the main office and talks to everyone. That does mean there is a lot of exposure to all levels in the team, but I don't think he is actively rude, but he can be direct, especially with the senior team. The key thing is to give him feedback, or to talk to your manager if you don't want to give direct feedback.
In terms of the other items you raised, you are right we don't have big expense accounts when we travel - we want to put every bit of money we have into the mission, and building and supplying better products for our clients.
In terms of the 'absurd' requirement to work from 9-6pm, yes, we believe un-apologetically, that collaboration works best face to face, and while phone and video conferencing are brilliant, nothing beats walking over to someone and asking a question.
That said we are taking this on board - we're experimenting with introducing working hours from 8:30am to 9:30am, with leaving from 5:30 to 6:30, as well as occasional working from home when needed.
