Pros

Conifer has a fun and easygoing culture, and the projects are always changing and never boring. The quality of the work you will do here will always make you proud; this is not a company that will force "shortcuts" and impossible timelines. There are plenty of opportunities to travel both domestically and abroad. Since it's a small company, you will have the opportunity to grow your skills in many directions. There are opportunities for presentation, data collection and synthesis, writing, and video editing experience that are rare to gain as a young person otherwise. Hours are very reasonable compared to other similar companies, rarely going over 9-5 except near presentation dates and on fieldwork. This is a great place to start a career while also leading a sane life, and making lifelong friends.

Cons

On paper, Conifer doesn't pay as much as other similar companies, but when factoring in hours, quality of life, fun projects, and experience gained, you won't regret the time you spend here.

Pros

A great team of people to work with and many bright minds to learn from.

Cons

Very small and scrappy, We had to find creative solutions to problems which at larger firms there are whole departments dedicated to.

Pros

- Conifer really invests in the wellbeing of employees. Senior staff encourages junior members to have work-life balance and sincerely checks in to see how people are doing. Company leadership has our best interests in mind, to make sure we are doing okay both personally and professionally. I am writing this in the middle of a pandemic, and leadership has been very thoughtful about adapting our work environments and giving us support where needed. - Strong sense of camaraderie. Coworkers are some of the nicest, funniest people I've ever met. Everybody is invested in cultivating a warm and welcoming community. We've collaborated on creative ways of staying connected as a team while working remotely (ex: virtual trivia, gratitude murals, video games). - Diverse projects ranging from many different industries (food, healthcare, media, technology). - The directors have diverse skillsets and bring different perspectives to problem-solving. When you put a group of designers and social scientists in a room, there is bound to be interesting philosophical discussions and new ways to look at the world. It's a great place to have nerdy fun and cultivate metaphorical thinking. - Senior leadership is invested in mentoring junior members and giving guidance on project work and general life advice. Coworkers are always open to teaching each other different skills.

Cons

Project work may be slow, but this is a challenge for many companies in the middle of a pandemic. Even when times are slow, professional development and learning new skillsets are highly encouraged.
