Pros

The pay is fair and they have many opportunities for fully remote work

Cons

The level of micromanagement is insane. Unlike most customer service jobs, you can't log into certain systems until clocking in. Once you clock in you are expected to go available right away. These programs are often slow to load and and messages to read before you can go available if you aren't in available within a minute of clocking in, you are marked as tardy despite the fact that by their own policy you are supposed to have 6 minutes. Upon starting this job the equipment I was provided was 5 years old. After a year of working there it was finally replaced, but the way the replacement was done was insane. Rather than showing value for the employee and sending a replacement first so they can keep working while waiting on the replacement and ensure the new equipment is working properly before the employee sends back their functioning equipment, they force the employee to send in their working equipment. They refused to send out the replacement until the previous was received. The return label was for UPS ground and the replacement was sent out via UPS ground as well, ensuring it would take the longest time possible. This resulted in me being unable to work for about two weeks unpaid. On top of that I had to pay out of pocket to get an adapter that would work with my headset and wasn't advised of this need before the replacement was sent to give me an opportunity to ensure I had it while waiting all that time, resulting in extra loss of work time to obtain the adapter. All of this sent a clear message that I am valued so little that me being unable to work for two weeks is no problem, yet their attendance policies sure are strict and claim otherwise. On top of the issues with the replacement, I was not provided correct instructions before sending out my old device to ensure a smooth transition to a new device, which resulted in more time lost before I could get back to work. If you ask for time off and with that and your normal days off you end up being off for more than 3 days in a row, they lock your device. Getting it unlocked once you are due to return is easier said than done. Another act of showing distrust rather than trusting that the employee will be like most people and not want to touch their work equipment outside of work other than to check their schedule since no means to check one's schedule is provided besides the work equipment. Then lastly they are quick to find fault and slow to show praise and let you know what you are doing well at. While yes it is good to give feedback to help the employee improve, it is also essential that the employee knows what they are doing well at so they know to keep doing that. A top performer should be aware of the fact that they are. I was so unaware of this that when a supervisor told me of this, I thought they were lying and said so. To be quite honest, the only reason why I have been with Conduent for a year is because I've had no luck finding another job since it is so difficult to find another job these days. The moment I find another job or have enough money saved up to be able to live at least 6 months with no income, I'm putting in notice.

Pros

Paid on time, provided equipment, decent benefits from day one, nice co-workers

Cons

Sweatshop mentality of the supervisors, threats of demotion/termination for medical leave, random layoffs when calls didn't justify hours, with those same hours shifted to supervisors to keep them active. Unable to print paystubs, had to request everything through a supervisor, and provide copious amounts of private information to have the request honored. Corrosive environment - I left as soon as I got another offer, gave 24 hours notice (and I've never, ever done that before). Unless you're on the verge of homelessness or starvation, avoid at all costs.
