Pros

Hundreds of locations nationwide, options for per diem work, easy plug and play system, met some amazing co-workers, at local level some of the most team-oriented and hardest working people I’ve ever known, great data collection and metrics, template friendly EHR, work is easy as far as intellectual burden, Select Medical is a SOLID parent company

Cons

Pay not competitive with antiquated compensation philosophy, high volume of patients with a flawed upper management philosophy on staffing ratios, never can meet turn around time goals without cutting corners, upper management not in touch with what’s really going on on the frontlines, people afraid to speak truth to leaders for fear of being seen as a dissenter when all they’re doing is trying to help the company, middle regional management too comfortable in their Cush jobs to speak truth to the executive leaders about the struggling local frontlines, patients constantly angry about wait times due to above mismanagement, visitors take out this anger on the providers, aggressive DOT drivers in poor health want full certificates despite being at risk for accidents, work is sometimes not intellectually stimulating when many visits are physical exams

Pros

I enjoyed the technical challenges working with extremely passionate and talented people. The benefits and compensation are competitive, and I had so much to offer given a little more time.

Cons

Unfortunately, it is a revolving door. Management is vastly unqualified and by title only. They had no on-boarding process and communication was extremely poor or lacking altogether. They are fire happy and terminate people like nothing without regard for tenure which almost seems deliberate. Several very experienced and tenured people were terminated the week before I was. One of which had moved to another team which created the vacancy for my position.
