Pros

The patients were the best part of this job. The noting system is convenient.

Cons

In Albuquerque, NM this company is ran by family and friends of family and there is obvious nepotism. I was poached from another company with promise of full time work, high hourly pay, benefits, and massive PTO potential. I have been with them a year and have only worked a full time week 4x. I traveled out of town for them and offered to work weekends making myself available all the time but rarely worked more than 15 hours a week. The PTO is basically non existent. You can’t use it to offset downtime or even when you want a vacation, it seems worthless, they expect you to sit idle and Just be available. When I told them I took on a parttime job to make up for the lack of work they cut my caseload even further. The company insurance is very pricey and low coverage. It takes multiple calls to get a response from the administration and they ask you to talk to scheduling if you need more work. The supplies needed to do your job are governed by one person, they must have had issue with things missing because she only has supplies available once a week after you send an email request (only accepted on thurs) and then you can pick them up the following Monday. Tough when you are busy. They bombard your email daily with multiple irrelevant tweet mail. It is difficult to communicate on a professional college educated level with most and there is a general “take it or leave it attitude” typical to the albuquerque “ghetto vibe” There is one person in charge of scheduling with no supervision hence the ridiculous offset of one full time employee working 40 hours overtime while another works 15 hours a week. There are no truly defined territories if you want to work you will be asked to work whenever and wherever they want you to or you will be considered a poor team player and scheduling will proceed to cut your patient load. It’s common practice to throw last minute patients on your schedule on a Thursday or Friday afternoon. They have been known to lay people off with a certified letter and a quick disconnect of their phone. Basically it’s not worth the stress and lack of family/work balance. I know for a fact that there are better companies in home health as a matter of fact I work for one. Overall the company as a whole notified employees that is has disconnected from some very large providers and insurance companies and it is expected that there will be a decline in caseload, the future of that is unknown. If you consider working for this company heed my advice, ask questions and get everything in writing all the time. I have worked for small privately owned companies and I have worked for the Chicago tribune I have never seen such an unorganized, unsupportive, and poorly handled division. This is a piece of what I believe is a decent company as a whole however they are allowing it to be ran like a high school newspaper by gossipy middle aged mean girls.

Meaningful work, supportive team environment, opportunity to help families during difficult times.
