Pros

The students are (mostly) wonderful, and the other teachers care very much for the students on an individual level. Flexible with hours, I was going to the University and I would be allowed to come in late if I needed to work on a paper or do homework.

Cons

Severe lack of structure from the owners and high level administration. They encourage creativity in new system development, however, they will not support the process and then wonder why things are not getting done. Emails are not returned and meetings are often put off indefinitely.

Pros

There’s no requirement for previous experience, which is beneficial for those starting their careers. However, this also contributes to the low salary. Although there are bonuses, they stem from extra hours worked at events and tend to be slightly lower than what was initially promised. Field trips can be fun, but driving the van(they ask teachers to drive) in the extreme summer heat is not ideal. On the bright side, there are many enjoyable classes for both teachers and students.

Cons

Employees are often terminated without clear reasons, with 5-6 people being let go in a single day, creating a competitive atmosphere among the remaining staff. There’s no training, support, or guidelines provided, yet the administration expects high performance. Online teachers enroll students, leading to frequent mistakes. The administration, run by two brothers, is disconnected from day-to-day operations, and their management style fluctuates based on their moods. Issues with IEP meetings, graduation requirements, and course structures are common. It was uncomfortable when teachers repeatedly asked a student for a gift after recommending them as “Student of the Year.” One teacher, who was receiving compensation money, was fired for receiving a spicy gummy from a student, which seemed unreasonable. While the administration consists of talented individuals, they have poor habits, are not receptive to feedback, and take critiques personally. Unfortunately, I don’t foresee these issues being resolved.
