Pros

The entrepreneurial spirit of the owners is admirable. That's where the pro's stop. Good intentions, horrible execution! Oh, and the Christmas party is fun. Just a time for them to show off their money to their friends. Don't kid yourself and think it's for you as an employee!!

Cons

The owners literally told me everyone was expendable. Hence, why the turnover is alarmingly high. And the problem with such high turnover is the need for the constant training of new employees. So you would think the training would be amazing. Nope. Far from it. This is either a make or break it environment and if you annoy the owners in anyway shape or form, you're out. Can't make it the first day in training? You're out. And by make it, I mean however they feel that day. Their judgement isn't based on any metrics, just pure subjective judgement. This is all regardless of if you quit a previous job. I suggest anyone leaving a current role for this one leaves it on good terms. If you don't "make it" (which is loosely defined), you're out and that's that. If you're in sales make sure you stay on their good side (which you have no control of) because they will feed the good leads to their friends. Most of what what mentioned above applies to sales, but their customer service department isn't much better. Get ready to use horrible client management systems and good luck ever getting any office supplies to do your job. The lawyers at this company are amazing! They work incredibly long hours for horrible pay. Can you imagine dealing with the IRS and mad customers all day long for below entry level pay after taking out all of those student loans to become a lawyer!?! It's insulting and they deserve better! Lastly, their HR department is non existent. A non- HR professional is the head of the department and, well, good luck. All around a toxic environment. Proceed with extreme caution!!!!

Community Tax Response
10y
Typically at Community Tax, we like to utilize these reviews as constructive criticism so that we can positively improve the work environment. However, given the completely frivolous nature of this review, we feel compelled to respond to this. This is a post from an anonymous individual who did not even specify what position they worked in. First – at Community Tax, ownership and management recognize, that great companies are built by great people. Every member of management came in entry level, work hard, excelled, and were promoted into their current positions. With respect to the attack on sales, Community Tax invests heavily in marketing in order to create an opportunity for each and every rep. Unfortunately, like any position in sales, it is not always a fit for everyone. Sales has clearly defined metrics and targets to hit, like any sales floor. Leads are distributed evenly to everyone, and a large percentage of our sales floor are six figure earners. Anyone applying for sales is welcome to come shadow a salesperson and see what a day is like on the CTax sales floor. Community Tax offers its attorneys a competitive entry level tax attorney salary, and the ability to earn substantial bonuses. We enroll hundreds of clients a month, and it is a fast paced, high volume environment. Lastly, no one is forced to write reviews, and the failed businesses referred to include Community Tax, which in six years has become one of the largest providers of Tax Resolution services in the country and employs well over 100 people, and Consumer Law Group which is one of Illinois’ fastest growing consumer law firms. We welcome any candidate to come on in for an interview, and see for yourself what Community Tax is like, rather than relying on a fabricated post.

Pros

Some of the people were great to work with.

Cons

They expected a ton of work for ridiculously low pay. Management was dysfunctional and had too many meetings. They never really fixed anything. They cared more about being sued than actually providing quality service from the start.
