Pros
Great mission and many employees are very dedicated In my personal experience had communicative, open, and trusted managers
Cons
-Wasn't paid expense checks for 11 months. This amounted to thousands of dollars. -Was paid direct deposit for a couple months then consistently paid with a paper check because the organization didn't have enough funds to pay everyone. I have worked for non-profits for years- this is not an excuse, non-profits are businesses too who have to pay their employees. I was consistently told that things like this were just part of non-profit life. THIS IS NOT TRUE. The organization would've been able to pay employees properly if they had a development team or any annual fundraisers/ a good relationship with the board, on that note a more connected Board of Directors would have been helpful. -Was constantly expected to drive unreasonable distances that made no sense. Driving an hour for a 1-2 hour shift makes no sense for the employee or the employer. -I can't think of a single director who hasn't been sitting in their position for way too long. Promoting from within is good, but this organization does this TOO much and there is no one with an outsider perspective at the top. Job Coaches and Business Developers are more diverse but their opinions on organizational changes are undervalued.
