Pros

This is a great place for anyone who wants a start in tech! From the first day, I felt like I was contributing, which is usually a rarity for an internship. Also, I got the opportunity to work on a lot of really cool projects and initiatives. It feels like there's always something exciting or new going on, so I rarely find myself bored or without work (another rarity for an internship). There is a lot of work to do, but I enjoy working with my team and the relaxed environment. I think the work environment is a good mix between stereotypical start-up and a more developed company. There's structure, but everything still feels fresh. I think the biggest pro is that, as an intern, I was allowed to experiment, try new things and work with a lot of autonomy. I gained a lot of skills here and a really good idea of what working in tech is like. If I had an idea for a project or something we could do, I was able to follow through with it.

Cons

- It's tough work because it's a new product within a competitive market, but that's part of the challenge. - The location is great for the most part, but I wish it was a tiny bit closer to the heart of downtown. However, the building is literally 20 steps away from the Expo Line so I can't really complain too much about location. - I really enjoy working in the relaxed office, but it's usually a bit too quiet. -Things change and move really fast, so sometimes it's hard to keep up.

Pros

As a college student, I've been a part of several other internship programs in the past. Colony Logic has definitely been the most fun and best learning experience. Because it's a startup, there is a lot of opportunity for you to make a direct impact. You can take a hands-on approach to everything you do, and you know that your work actually matters. The team is encouraging and open to your ideas, but gives you clear direction and/or advice. Even on days that are slow, you never have nothing to do. You're not running around making copies or getting coffee- you are working on projects that you can call your own. Benefits include: free food, ping pong table, frequent company-wide townhall/ lunch meetings, ability to talk with managers/ C-level execs freely and exchange ideas, great location (right across the street from Staples center and a 5 min drive from USC.)

Cons

Working in a startup means you will get involved in a lot of different tasks and helping out other teams. You are not set to one specific role. This means, sometimes you might get pulled away from your everyday tasks to help out with a new project in a different department. Although this is a great learning opportunity because you get to know a little about a lot, if you're uncomfortable with juggling several tasks- a startup might not be right for you. If you think you can handle a variety of tasks on your plate- go for it! Other than that, the office can be a little quiet sometimes...
