Pros

▪️ Not sure what to say positively, as I experienced severe workplace trauma here as psychological safety is an issue at Collins. One cannot speak up without fear of retaliation! ▪️ Pay is OK, you won't get a bonus until Management 5 (M5) Level. Most other companies offer bonuses to all employees in supply chain. ▪️ There are some good working people that do actually care to get good work done.

Cons

▪️ Cons are pretty high, including psychological safety. This is directly due to the leadership at the Director and Associate Director of Supply Chain Roles for 'MSC - Military, Safety, Cargo'. As they say, birds of a feather flock together. The environment is extremely toxic. A couple of the SC leaders are narcissists, one in Wisconsin and another in Arizona. Both are remote so you don't have to see them often. ▪️ Toxic environment in SC is causing managers & employees to leave in Supply Chain. Great employee transferred out in February 2024, she couldn't wait to make the change out of SC. She did not like her new narcisistic boss in Wisconsin. Lost a manager in late April, she resigned ... also due to narcisist boss in Arizona. Another one transferred in Mid-May, he couldn't work with the current SC leadership anymore (and got a promotion when leaving!). He was about to resign. ▪️ Collins laid off the top talent in oxygen supply chain as senior leaders (Director/Associate Directors) questioned “loyalty” by cutting their jobs in September 2023. Then they turned around and hired new people in 6 months by Mar 2024. Corporate said the layoffs were cost cutting. Standard corporate lies, they used layoffs to get rid of people they did not like/trust. Bottom line of this layoff. ▪️ As a defense contractor, they don't care about former military employees. Evidenced in above layoffs, specific site in Kansas cut a high performing Army veteran operations senior leader (actual former blackhawk pilot that knows about aviation) to cut costs; cut another military vet with aviation experience in same layoff at same plant, in supply chain. No sweat on their behalf, just an aerospace manufacturer with defense ties laying off people who used to be employed by their top customer (parent company). ▪️ Don't really care about diversity. Laid off their Collins-wide Special Disabilities diversity coordinator at the end of September, just prior to October - the disability awareness month! Yes, the coordinator for the entire Collins Aerospace. Ooopppss! Cut your coordinator in the recognition month, how sad. ▪️ Do they actually care about diversity? Got rid of their only colored manager in KS operations (buy out last July 2023). This person was going to resign anyway....had a job at the competition. At least they gave him a buyout. True story. ▪️ Political jungle. Leadership does nothing to prevent the silo in fighting. And do I mean fighting, and blame! Toxic. Departments are silos, decisions go up the silo, not to a centralized decision maker. They like to preach the VSL is the decision maker, but individual silos make the calls. The decisions are not for the good of the organization, but rather for the good of the silo. ▪️ Growth in Supply Chain is extremely limited. They will hire less qualified people from the outside rather than promote from within. Promotions are rare, and thus turnover is pretty high. When you complain, you are out. Then they will hire your replacement at a higher paygrade. ▪️ Good luck at this company if you are a conservative. DEI, specifically Inclusion & Equity is not a thing for you. They are very non-inclusive about conservative thought. ▪️ Be careful, this company is moving manufacturing to India for interiors product, to improve profitability. Check the news to validate this statement - very large facility built in India with a lot of free manufacturing space. Anything in interiors is at risk. ▪️ Be careful, Boeing just laid of 17,000 in October 2024, this will trickle down to Collins. They are very dependent on Boeing business. Boeing's machinist union is still on strike as of this posting date. ▪️ Supply Chain in Lenexa just installed SAP, expect a really unstable period of supply in addition to the lack of training with the new team and supply issues the team is already facing.
