There are a lot of cons to CohnReznick. The biggest issue with this firm is why work here when you could work at a big 4 and have those firm names on your resume. CohnReznick wants to be just like the big 4 so bad but doesn’t have the technology/people to achieve that. The following are just a sliver of the issues:
- Office politics. This firm is the equivalent to a giant high school class. You need to play the office politics game here and make sure managers like you. If one manager doesn’t like you start searching for another job
- Management. This firm has no sense of direction in regards of management. The team I was on was a train wreck 24/7 with regards to how partners/managers handled just running a team. They provide no communication to staff and expect seniors/staff to know what they are thinking at all times
- Communication. The managers and partners fail to communicate any sort of deadline and just expect everything to come together right before a deadline.
- Software/hardware. The technology this firm leverages would have been impressive in 2002. About every system is outdated and it becomes a game almost trying to use their software.
- Hours. The firm will tell you about how the hours aren’t that bad here, but they are just lying to you. The firm is basically big 4 in terms of hours
- Toxicity. This firm harbors a very toxic environment. Expect others to just be nasty to you and for all employees to fake a smile and act miserable when a partner isn’t around.
- Churn and burn. Just like other accounting firms, this one is no different regarding churn and burn.
